JOB DETAILS
Landscape architects design attractive and functional public parks, gardens, playgrounds, residential areas, college campuses, and public spaces. A Landscape Architect in practice, has three key responsibilities to the client: Being a skilled and professional person. Acting as a reasonable agent. Acting as a Quasi-Arbitrator/Arbiter.
Roles and Responsibilities:
1. Establish general landscape requirements with clients.
2. Accurately prepare and present detailed plans and working drawings of the re-design of the new site, including applications, construction details and specifications for the project using computer-aided design (CAD) packages or similar design software.
3. Present proposals to clients, deal with enquiries and negotiate any amendments to the final design.
4. Put work out to tender, select a contractor and manager (mainly for larger projects), and lead cross-functional teams.
5. Liaise with other professionals on the project.
6. Monitor and check work on site (on large projects, landscape managers may do this type of supervisory work).
7. Authorise payment once work has been satisfactorily completed.
8. Generate new business opportunities.

1. Good design/drawing skills, including computer-aided design (CAD).
2. Excellent communication and negotiating skills.
3. Creative ability, imagination and enthusiasm.
4. A concern for the environment and an understanding of conservation issues.
5. A practical outlook.
6. Good observation skills and an eye for detail.
