Key Responsibilities
- Lead the editing of our weekly newspaper
- Set the editorial agenda with the News Editor, and organise the story flow from TradeWinds’ global network of correspondents
- Work closely with the News Editor and Production Desk to plan and deliver each edition on deadline
- Take responsibility for final pages
- Help manage staff commitments
- Work closely with the Editor-in-Chief and News Editor to ensure the smooth and efficient operation and development of the editorial team
Essential Skills
- Excellent news judgement and familiarity with business terminology to generate the strongest file for our subscribers
- A proven track record leading teams in a news environment
- A keen eye for detail, grammar and accuracy, with excellent editing skills
- Knowledge of the shipping and related industries is an advantage but is not essential
- A strong sense of the role of a news-driven weekly and how that interacts with rolling news online and social media
- Strong people skills to ensure high performance across the team and enhance TradeWinds’ culture
- Willingness to keep up-to-date with journalism law
- Ability to work fast and accurately under pressure
