Assistant Program Editor

Key Responsibilities and Accountability

• Broadcast news in line with the Aljazeera news agenda
• Work closely with the Programme Editors in deciding and driving the days editorial agenda
• Liaise closely with teams in the field on final output
• Recognise and shape stories which are in line with Aljazeera News agenda
• Build running orders, correct scripts, write scripts, output shows in the gallery, commission and write graphics, check package scripts, work with newsdesk and reporters to build shows, brief presenters on content, commission Output Producers to write and edit stories
• Oversee output team when Programme Editor in the gallery
• Work with technical staff in the gallery when outputting shows
• Research and come up with story ideas
• Occasional field work
• Edit Packages in edit suite, working closely with editors
• Participate in the editorial meeting and propose ideas and guests that are suitable to the news stories of the day
• Working in Doha and other Broadcast Centres as needed

Job Requirements / Qualifications:

• Minimum Bachelor Degree in Journalism, Media, Communications or related fields
• Minimum 3 years of professional experience in a newsroom as a journalist.
