Responsibilities

  • Work as an integral part of the Burton Menswear Senior team, operates as a strategic business manager, overseeing the design team and their processes, demonstrating best practice
  • Own and deliver the critical path, ensuing all milestones are delivered on time
  • Build effective relationships and influences effectively at all levels to inspire and debate key issues in order to get the best commercial results
  • Demonstrate full ownership and responsibility for the output of the Design team at all times
  • Act as a brand ambassador who represents the brand externally with credibility, confidence and professionalism, ensuring positive outcomes for the brand in terms of profile and authority.
  • Ensure all seasonal design trends and direction is signed off with the Head of Buying
  • Lead ad hoc cross functional/brand-wide projects
  • Offer advice and helps find solutions to the wide range of issues encountered by the teams – acts as trouble-shooter
Requirements
  • Act as the driving force behind the creative product direction of the brand
  • Provide strong and consistent product direction, owning the process of balancing the range to include development of seasonal key looks, fashion items and essential pieces appropriate for the Burton Menswear customer
  • Work closely with the Head of Buying, Creative Director & Head of Merchandising to generate and communicate key product direction and brand ‘handwriting’
  • Continuously critiques and develops new ideas to move the brand forward to stay ahead of the competition
  • Display an in-depth, customer-focused knowledge of market and trends
  • Contribute to the successful management of product-focused aspects of key events such Press Days
  • Drive PR through events in addition to Press Days
  • Regularly review processes within Design to continually drive improvements and ensure maximum efficiency and high performance
  • Manage the Design budget to deliver best value

Develop a High Performing Team
  • Motivate and develop the in-house design team; will have a good track record of leading and working within a high performing design and buying team
  • With the Management Team, define and communicate a clear vision of the future and translate this into understandable goals and targets
  • Provide positive leadership and support to the team
  • Support the brand strategy and encourage others to do so.
  • Pre-empt the need for, and manages change, supporting team
